Manurewa Central School

What's happening at Manurewa Central

Check out some of the events, activities and fund raisers we have throughout the school year.

Eden Lodge Stationery Donation

A great big thank you to Eden Lodge for the 550 units of stationery items donated for our students.

It was greatly received by our leadership team, members of our Board of Trustees, and especially our student leaders.

We are very proud of Benny from Nikau, who represented Manurewa Central School at the Rehu Tai Manurewa Speech Competition held at Reremoana School on Friday 15 August.

Benny competed in the Speech Category, with the topic whenua.

He spoke with great confidence and mana, sharing his ideas with clarity and pride.

Benny did himself, his whanau, and our school proud through his effort and presentation.

Ka rawe, Benny - we are very proud of you!

We are pleased to congratulate Zoe and Kali for winning the $100 supermarket vouchers for their excellent attendance last term.

We are pleased to congratulate Pete and Gippy for winning the $100 supermarket vouchers for their excellent attendance last term.

Last term we had two whānau groups whose attendance exceeded our 70% regular Attendance target.

These were Mr Nganu's whānau group in Kowhai Pod, and Mrs McHaffie Green's whānau group in Kauri pod.

To celebrate this achievement the children were treated to a 'hot chip' lunch.

Chess Tournament

On Thursday 12th June, the chess team proudly represented our school at the South Auckland Inter-School Primary Chess Tournament.

Martin was awarded Top Player on Board 1, and Amin received the award for Top Player on Board 2 — an outstanding achievement for both players!

The team demonstrated impressive skill, focus, and perseverance throughout the competition.

It's been pleasing to see a number of students from beginners to experts developing their skills with Coach Andrew and Coach John.

We are hoping to give even more students the chance to compete in the coming terms.

Senior School were lucky enough to have Whaea Moneqe, from Ngāti Tamaoho, come to talk to our Tamariki about local stories involving Matukutūruru.

We were also taught Taonga Tākaro, traditional games.

Everyone had a great time.
